Elegant Holiday Celebrations with Moët & Chandon

The holiday season is upon us. It’s a time to indulge, to celebrate the year that has been and the year that is to come. More importantly, it’s a time to spend with family and friends. This year, make these moments even more special with a little sparkle. There’s something undeniably festive about sparkling wine, so while we’re believers in enjoying it year-round, the holidays are the time to break out the bubbles.

What better wine to choose than Moët & Chandon. Exemplifying finesse with just the right touch of complexity, these can pair with anything from appetizers to desserts. Learn more about what makes Moët & Chandon the most popular champagne in the world and our tasting notes on three of their champagnes.

270 Years of Excellence

Established in 1743 by Claude Moët, the company grew to international fame under his grandson Jean-Rémy Moët. In the early 1800’s Napoleon awarded Jean-Rémy with a medal of the Légion d'Honneur, the highest decoration in France. Since then, Moët & Chandon has continued to prove why it’s the world’s best champagne. Now part of the LVMH luxury house, there is a combination of historical know-how and state-of-the-art technology that creates the harmonious balance Moët & Chandon is known for.

Since the 18th century, they have been part of celebrating life’s triumphant moments. From Napoleon's conquests to royal weddings to Hollywood events to Formula 1 championships to the special moments in your life.

The Moët & Chandon Secret

Today, Moët & Chandon produce 28 million bottles per year — each one with the same level of elegance as the last. It’s all made possible by the quality of their grapes. Housed in the heart of France’s Champagne region, where strict quality control measures determine if a sparkling wine can be called champagne, they consistently produce some of the best Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Chardonnay grapes. Through a careful selection process that involves only Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards — two of the highest quality vineyard classifications  Moët & Chandon use a blend of these three grapes.

Pinot Noir is used to add body, structure, and intensity to their champagne whilst Pinot Meunier helps add a roundness to the palate. Meanwhile, Chardonnay helps add that distinctive freshness and acidity. But their blending goes beyond just using these three grapes. Moët & Chandon champagne’s are made from a careful blend of 100 different wines, 20-30% of which are known as reserve wines (wines that have been kept in the winery for a few years to mature).

Moët & Chandon Brut Imperial

The classic champagne, Moet & Chandon Brut Imperial is a non-vintage cuvee that holds up to its image. Displaying bright pale yellow on the eyes, this champagne pours fine persistent bubbles. On the nose, aromas of butter and lemon greet you followed by nutty and brioche characteristics. The palate displays a crisp acidity with flavors of ripe stone fruits such as apricots and pear. Ending with a long finish and hints of green apple and yeast. Enjoy this fine champagne with Baked Salmon with Cream Sauce, soft cheeses such as Brie and Camembert, and Buttered Shrimps.

Moët & Chandon Rosé Imperial

For a more romantic expression of Moët & Chandon, try their Rosé Imperial. Displaying light pink with amber highlights, the aromas are reminiscent of lively bouquets of wild strawberries, raspberries, and cherries. The palate provides intense flavors of juicy gooseberries, strawberries, and apples while maintaining dry acidity. Ending with notes of peach and subtle coolness of menthol. Enjoy this aromatic rosé with Pan-Seared Foie Gras, Grilled Tuna Collar, Poached Pears with Honey and Figs.

Moët & Chandon Ice Imperial

The Moët & Chandon Ice Imperial was created to be enjoyed over ice. Combining fun and fresh sensations whilst remaining true to the Moët style, this is definitely one to try. Pouring a nice deep gold color with amber highlights, this champagne displays intense aromas of ripe mangoes and guava with hints of nectarine and raspberries. The palate is round with refreshing acidity, followed by flavors of ripe apples and caramel, and grapefruit. Enjoy this unique champagne over ice with Blue Cheese such as Roquefort, Fruit Salad, and Steamed Crabs with Garlic Aioli.
